November 15-19 – International Education Week. This year marks the eleventh annual International Education Week (IEW), an opportunity to recognize the value of international educational exchange in developing mutual understanding and respect around the world. IEW, held the third week of November each year, is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education that allows us to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange. International education exposes Americans studying abroad to different cultures and allows international students studying in the United States to learn firsthand about American society and values. IEW gives us an opportunity to celebrate education as a means of empowerment and enhancement, especially for women and minority groups who might otherwise not have access to opportunities available to their peers. – The official website of IEW 2010. - The list of suggested activities is just for a start. Teachers are encouraged to be creative in planning events for this week. - This website is about studying in the U.S.
