On the 26 December, there was a workshop "More Learning with less Teaching" in the ETRC (in Kyiv Mohyla Academy). It was presented by a Moodle expert, Yuri Vedrashko, who is visiting Kyiv from the Higher Colleges of Technology in the UAE.
The presenter demonstrated how Moodle (Modular Object Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment)
can be used to efficiently deliver not only static content, such as electronic books, to a larger audience at a distance, but also how this CMS (Course Management Systems) can help deliver study content in the form of dynamic learning objects or interactive online activities.
 The participants experienced advantages of learning a foreign language through an interactive learning object with multimedia input, i.e. an interactive Moodle Lesson and electronic test with instant marking and feedback, all based on a comic strip.
They also had an opportunity to share with one another their views regarding the design of the interactive lesson, quality of the input and pedagogical implications of using Moodle as their primary environment of instruction delivery.
Yuri Vedrashko has been an enthusiast of CMS-based delivery of instruction since 2004 when he taught English at a college in Taipei, Taiwan.
He experimented with numerous Moodle-based syllabus design models for English teaching and learning.
His professional development in Applied Linguistics (TESOL) revolved around principles of Communicative Language Teaching, Analytic syllabus design and Zones of Proximal Development. He also taught EFL - ESP in the USA and Ukraine.
At present, he’s providing language instruction, both in class and online, at a college in the UAE.
